There is an old saying, we should never judge a book by its cover. Now, it is easier said than done. With so many books out there, sometimes you have to judge a book by its cover.  But, the Alchemist is one of those books that if you judged it by its cover, you would never pick it up. And I have to be honest here, I would have never picked up this book if I did not hear other people talk about it. This is one of those books that takes hold in popular culture because it is so different from all the other books out there that it becomes the "thing" people talk about.
